Steve Holmes For a Kansas City public TV station,
Steve produced sports features and short documentaries, including a dozen on
major- and minor-league baseball teams.
As an independent producer, his short, narrative film on the bush
leagues, Old Timer's Day, won
a CINE Golden Eagle, one of the most prestigious awards in the video business
(another of his videos also won a CINE
and a national Telly Award.) Steve's
travelogue on an American environmental group's visit to Siberia appeared on
Iowa Public Television. His scriptwriting has won national
acclaim — four times (Semifinalist in 1993 and 1997 in the Nicholl
Fellowships in Screenwriting competition, sponsored by the Academy Foundation
of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences; Finalist in 1994 and
1997 in the Writer's Digest Writing Competition.) One honored script deals with minor-league
baseball. A brush with baseball greatness came
when former star George Brett threw a wad of used chewing tobacco at him
(Brett threw wide; he was never known for his arm.) |
